The Ronaldo Rodríguez wedding Cascais took place on 11 August 2026, a civil ceremony attended only by the couple and their five children, marking ten years since the pair first met in Madrid. No fanfare, no guest list of hundreds. Just a white Gucci shirt-and-skirt combination, a Chopard Garden of Kalahari necklace, and a moment Georgina Rodríguez described as exactly what she had imagined.
The ceremony, the outfit, and what Georgina said afterwards
In a joint statement released to People, the couple confirmed the details: a private civil ceremony in Cascais, Portugal, attended by their five children. Ronaldo posted a photo of the pair wearing their wedding bands on Instagram, captioning it simply: ‘C❤️G.’
Speaking to Vogue about the decision to keep it intimate, Rodríguez explained a shift from childhood fantasy. ‘When I was a little girl, I dreamt of the biggest castle, the biggest carriage, the longest dress, a crown full of diamonds,’ she said. ‘And now I’m saying: no. I want something intimate, with my partner and our children, at home. Because castles, houses, islands, horses, cars: we have all of that within reach every day. But something intimate, that’s more unusual for us.’ She added, in a line that got widely repeated: ‘In the economy of fame, privacy is priceless.’
After the ceremony, she texted: ‘It was exactly as I’d imagined it. Intimate, full of love, and with our family in the most important starring role. I couldn’t hold back the tears.’
A larger celebration with family and friends is planned for a future date. Ronaldo’s take on that: ‘It will be a special day, spent in a normal way.’
The Ronaldo Rodríguez wedding Cascais followed nearly a decade together
The couple’s story goes back to 2017, when Rodríguez was working as a sales assistant at a Gucci store in Madrid and crossed paths with Ronaldo. She recalled the moment in a March 2023 appearance on Spanish talk show El Hormiguero: ‘When I saw him, he was so handsome, I felt embarrassed to look at him. Let’s just say it was butterflies in my stomach.’ Ronaldo, for his part, said in Rodríguez’s Netflix reality series Netflix‘s I Am Georgina that he found her ‘a very interesting girl, so much more mature for her age.’
They went public at the Best FIFA Football Awards in Zurich in January 2017, and by November that year had welcomed their first child together, daughter Alana Martina. The following years brought further children, a relocation to Saudi Arabia when Ronaldo signed with Al Nassr FC, and, in April 2022, the loss of one of their twin boys during childbirth. ‘It is the greatest pain any parent can feel,’ they wrote in a joint statement at the time. Their daughter Bella, born alongside him, survived.
Rodríguez reflected on that period in season two of I Am Georgina. ‘Over 40 million people follow me, but no one knows how I really feel,’ she said. ‘This year, I had the best and the worst moment of my life in an instant.’
The engagement came in August 2025, announced by Rodríguez on Instagram with an oval-cut diamond ring estimated to weigh over 30 carats. Ronaldo subsequently described the proposal on Piers Morgan’s Uncensored podcast in November 2025, recounting a late-night moment at home. ‘It was like 1 A.M., and my daughters were in bed sleeping,’ he said. ‘One of my friends gave me the ring to offer to Gio, and as I was giving her the ring, my two daughters came in and said, “Daddy, you’re going to give the ring to mom, and you’re going to ask her to get married.”‘ He called the timing right for a reason that had nothing to do with the ring: ‘Not only because she’s the mother of my kids, but she’s the person I love. She’s the love of my life.’
Rodríguez, in her June 2025 Vogue Arabia cover interview conducted by Ronaldo himself, put their connection simply: ‘That spark we had since we met has also grown and matured over time.’ The Cascais ceremony, a decade on from that Gucci store, was the formal conclusion to that chapter. The bigger party is still to come.
