The Henry Cavill Natalie Viscuso relationship has moved from a quietly posted chess photo to a confirmed baby daughter, a Warhammer project at Amazon, and a pair of matching Games Workshop superfans setting up a life together, all while keeping most of it firmly off the public record.
They first surfaced in early April 2021, spotted walking Cavill’s dog Kal in London. Days later, Cavill posted the now-famous chess photo: him looking, as he put it, ‘quietly confident shortly before my beautiful and brilliant love Natalie destroys me at chess.’ Viscuso posted the same image with the caption, ‘Just teaching my dear Henry how to play some chess…or…maybe he let me win?’ Not the most conventional relationship announcement, but it did the job.

For a year and a half after that, they kept things low-key. Cavill used Instagram in May 2021 to address the ‘social animosity’ that had built up among some followers, asking people to stop directing hostility toward Viscuso. ‘Your passion is misplaced, and it causes harm to the people I care about most,’ he wrote. It was a pointed message, and he left little ambiguity about how seriously he took it.
Their first red carpet came in October 2022, at the Enola Holmes 2 premiere in New York City. A second followed in December 2022 at the Avatar: The Way of Water premiere in Hollywood. Both were significant given how deliberately they had avoided that kind of exposure up to that point.
December 2022 also brought the Warhammer announcement.
