Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau made a well-dressed evening of it at the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art opening gala in Los Angeles on Saturday, 19 September, joining a guest list that read like a very confident publicist’s dream.
The pair posed together and were visibly affectionate at the event, which also drew Kim Kardashian, Lewis Hamilton, Michael B. Jordan and Tracee Ellis Ross, among others. Perry arrived in a white velvet Christian Siriano gown from the designer’s spring 2027 collection, the strapless dress featuring a sculptural neckline. Silver open-toed sandals and a delicate diamond bracelet completed the look. Trudeau kept it straightforward in a classic black suit with a slightly open white shirt.
A Museum Worth the Fuss
The opening gala was the kind of event that reminded everyone involved that Los Angeles does this sort of thing at a scale other cities don’t attempt. According to the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, the opening night celebration was co-chaired by Julie Bell, Tom Cruise, Greta Gerwig, Jensen Huang, JR, Steven Spielberg, Guillermo del Toro and Pharrell Williams. That is not a committee that assembles for just anything.
For anyone picturing wall-to-wall Millennium Falcons, the museum is a broader proposition than its founder’s most famous work might suggest. ABC News reports that the Star Wars collection makes up only seven per cent of the museum, with the rest dedicated to narrative art in a wider sense. The Lucas Museum outing is the latest chapter in a relationship that has moved, by degrees, from carefully managed privacy to the full red-carpet treatment. Dating rumours first surfaced after the pair had dinner together in Montreal in July 2025. For months after that, not much was confirmed either way.
June brought their first proper public moment together, when they attended the premiere of Perry’s concert film, The Lifetimes Tour, at the Tribeca Festival. Since then they have been spotted at a picnic in Santa Barbara, California, and on trips to the South of France and Greece. In August, Trudeau shared a photo of Perry in a carousel looking back on his summer.
Perry has not been shy about where she stands, either. In a recent interview with People, she called Trudeau ‘the love of my life.’ That is about as unambiguous as these things get.
