Iconic Cheshire home interiors store, Arighi Bianchi, is stepping into the national spotlight this week as it features in a brand-new BBC drama, Film Club. The six-part rom-com series – starring Suranne Jones, Aimee Lou Wood, and award winning Adolescence actor Owen Cooper – launched Tuesday (7 October) on iPlayer and aired the same night on BBC Three at 10pm.
The family-run store, a Macclesfield landmark for over 170 years, takes centre stage in episode three, where key scenes were filmed in its stylish bed department and much-loved Caffè AB. Staff watched as the store was transformed into a working film set, bringing a touch of television glamour to everyday retail life. Alongside Arighi Bianchi, the BBC production also filmed scenes at Picturedrome, Macclesfield’s vibrant food hall – highlighting some of the town’s most-loved destinations on screen.
The Arighi site was chosen by the BBC’s location team for its distinctive character, architectural charm, and uniquely styled interiors.
Sarah Bianchi, Arighi Bianchi CEO, said:
“It was such an exciting experience to see our store transformed into a film set! The crew loved the look and feel of Arighi Bianchi – they told us it had a real warmth and authenticity that made it perfect for the scenes they wanted to shoot. The whole team were brilliant to work with and it’s fantastic to see our store so recognisably featured on national TV.”

In one memorable moment, Suranne Jones’ character, Suz, picks up one of Arighi Bianchi’s own brand candles, inhales deeply and says, “Winter nights” – a fitting nod to the store’s much-loved signature scent.

Later in the episode, Josh (played by Adam Long) is seen browsing Arighi Bianchi’s iconic Lily bedroom range, choosing a stylish chest of drawers to purchase – a scene that perfectly captures the store’s blend of timeless craftsmanship and contemporary design.

During filming, the production team also re-dressed areas of the store – including creating bespoke sale signage – while keeping Arighi Bianchi’s instantly recognisable façade, famous charm, and design details intact. Even the Caffè AB and East Entrance car park make cameo appearances, complete with one of the store’s branded vans in shot.

The store’s staff, who watched filming take place across several days, said it brought a real buzz to the showroom. “We’ve always been proud to be part of Macclesfield’s creative community,” Sarah added. “And it’s brilliant that the BBC team saw the same character and personality in Arighi Bianchi that our customers see every day.”
Arighi Bianchi has long been part of Cheshire’s cultural and retail heritage, combining history with design innovation – and now, a touch of television glamour too.
Film Club is streaming now on BBC iPlayer. Watch out for Arighi Bianchi’s starring role in Episode 3.
