Amazon’s Amazon Prime Big Deal Days power tools deals are already live ahead of the two-day sale, with early discounts of up to 51% on cordless drills, sanders, nailers and rotary kits from DeWalt, Makita and Dremel. The event itself runs 6-7 October, but a handful of the better offers have surfaced early.
If you’ve got autumn projects stacking up, a fence that needs sorting, a bathroom cabinet that’s been sitting in flat-pack purgatory since March, this is a reasonable moment to plug the gaps in your toolkit. A word upfront: several of these are tool-only deals. That means no battery, no charger. If you’re not already in a particular brand’s ecosystem, factor that cost in before clicking.
Prime Big Deal Days power tools: drills, drivers and impact tools
The headline drill deal is the DeWalt 20-volt MAX drill and driver set at $179, down 25%. It arrives with two batteries, a charger and a bag, genuinely ready to use out of the box, save for bits. For someone building their first proper toolkit, that’s a solid starting point.
If you only need a standalone drill, the DeWalt 20-volt cordless drill set is on sale for $125, a 30% reduction, and comes with a 2-amp-hour battery and charger. Useful for general home maintenance: drilling holes, driving screws, the usual.
The DeWalt 20-volt impact driver is listed at $127.99, 25% off, but this is tool-only, so it only makes sense if you’ve already got a DeWalt 20-volt battery and charger sitting in the cupboard.
Sanders, finishers and nailers also discounted
On the finishing side, the DeWalt 20-volt cordless sheet sander is at $119.99, 33% off. It’ll handle paint removal (provided it isn’t lead-based, worth checking before you go at it), surface prep and smoothing rough timber. Again, tool-only: you’ll need your own battery.
The Dremel cordless rotary tool kit comes in at $79, down 21%, and this one does include the battery, charger and a decent spread of accessories: sanding drums, a sanding bit, a cutoff bit, a cutoff disc and a case. For detailed carving or shaping work, it’s a more self-contained buy than most of the deals here.
The nailer discounts are the most eye-catching in percentage terms. The DeWalt 20-volt 16GA finish nail gun is at $369, 43% off its usual price, the sort of tool you’d reach for when fitting box frame moulding or crown moulding. Makita’s 18-volt 16GA finish nail gun undercuts it at $297.30, 51% off, and suits thicker trim like skirting boards or deeper crown moulding sections. Both are tool-only deals.
The wider Prime Big Deal Days picture
Prime Big Deal Days is Amazon’s October sale, running annually as a follow-up to the summer Prime Day. According to a forecast from Adobe Analytics, cited by CNBC, the event is expected to bring in $8.1 billion. That’s a number that reflects how seriously retailers now treat the autumn sale window.
It also shapes what gets discounted. USA Today notes that industry observers expect strong discounts on battery kits and combo bundles as retailers position themselves ahead of the holiday shopping season. Which explains why so many of the current power tool deals are skewed towards multi-item sets rather than individual tools, bundling shifts more stock and gets buyers locked into a battery platform before Christmas.
Amazon has confirmed 35 categories will feature in the sale, including tech, home, beauty, kitchen and fashion. Brands already confirmed include Sony, Shark, UGG and Adidas, among others.
Prime Big Deal Days opens at midnight on 6 October and closes at the end of 7 October. Early deals are live now.
